We are kicking off 2020 with our first ever offering from the Democratic Republic of Congo! This specific lot comes from 89 small (less than 2 hectares each) plot producers, living in or around Karango Village, in the South Kivu Province. Not really knowing what to expect from this coffee, we were greeted with candy sweet aromatics on the cupping table - which is usually a very positive sign of things to come. And we were not disappointed when we began to taste, finding a complexity of flavors ranging from dark fruits like dried plum to yellow apples - all wrapped up in a caramel sweetness. If you've never tried a coffee from the DRC, may we suggest this selection as a fantastic place to start!
