Augusto Castillo
Balanced, sweet and delicious
We taste
milk chocolate, mandarin, marzipan
...in this coffee.
Augusto Castillo’s farm, Miracerros, is a stone’s throw from the state of Chiapas in Mexico. The rugged, mangy and often cloud ridden peaks above the farm rise in stark contrast to the dry valleys and bustling towns seen thousands of feet below. With such beautiful surroundings you’d expect the coffee to match, and no doubt, it does. Once again, it is an honor to share Augusto’s coffee with you.
This year’s selection is similar to lots we’ve shared in years past from Miracerros. Fresh off the grind you will find intensely sweet marzipan aromatics. Sweet almond carries over into the cup as well and is joined by notes of milk chocolate and mandarin. If you are looking for a go to comfort coffee for the fall and winter months, look no further.

We buy, roast, and sell coffee. On a surface level, this sounds simple enough. But buying coffee in a way we are proud of and in a way that those who buy our coffee are proud of is often complex, challenging, and hard work. We find ourselves on a continuum of buying and selling that progresses towards more sustainable, meaningful and equitable relationships. The chart below provides basic information for each lot on where we are on this journey.
