Macario Garcia
Our fourth year offering coffee from Macario Garcia!
We taste
mission fig, guava, plum
...in this coffee.
There is excitement every year when our selections from Mexico arrive and perhaps none is more anticipated than our lot from Macario Garcia. It takes 6 hours to drive to his farm from the bustling town of Oaxaca and along the way you pass through the Tehuacán-Cuicatlán Biosphere Reserve, one of the most biodiverse areas in the world for species of cactus. Soon after the reserve you begin to climb and the desert habitat quickly gives way to cloud forest. The dramatic landscape is beautiful, and so is Macario’s coffee.
As always, we are thrilled to be able to purchase all of the coffee Macario produces and it never disappoints. As with previous years, the aromatics are full of intense dark fruits like candied plum. Plum carries over into the cup as well and is joined by mission fig and subtle tropical notes like guava. Sweet, fruit forward without ferment, balanced and lively. Macario has done it again and we’ll be drinking plenty here at Sweet Bloom.

Transparency Information
We buy, roast, and sell coffee. On a surface level, this sounds simple enough. But buying coffee in a way we are proud of and in a way that those who buy our coffee are proud of is often complex, challenging, and hard work. We find ourselves on a continuum of buying and selling that progresses towards more sustainable, meaningful and equitable relationships. The chart below provides basic information for each lot on where we are on this journey.
