Gathaithi is the name of the wet mill and co-op located in the well know and highly esteemed region of Nyeri. 1250 members bring their harvest to Gathaithi to be milled. This is the second year we've offered a coffee from this co-op and we continue to be impressed!
Writing tasting notes for coffees from Kenya is usually pretty easy. In general, they are some of the most complex coffees in the world. With really high quality lots, you can name a cornucopia of fruit flavors and probably not be too far off. And so it is with this lot of Gathaithi. The aromatics are intense with florals complementing citrus notes like tangerine. In the cup, sweet strawberry holds hands with a tart cranberry finish while a citrus acidity is at one sip orange to another sip, lemon lime. We are smitten by this year's Gathaithi, and think you will be too.
