Bakery Manager Job Description

The Bakery Manager leads the Bakery Team and oversees and curates the food pairings offered in each of the Sweet Bloom Cafes. We take great pride in our in-house baking program and aim to source the highest quality ingredients and bake fresh daily to ensure our pastries complement the high-quality standards of our coffee.

FULL TIME position available at our Arvada location.

COMPENSATION: Starting @ $50,000 – $52,000 Salaried Per Year Depending on Experience

HOURS/ REQUIRED AVAILABILITY: 40 Hours per Week (average) – Days and Hours vary, Monday – Saturday ~4am – ~4pm.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    • Hire, develop, and train new members of the Bakery Team.
    • Manage the Employees of the Bakery Team and handle conflicts through Bambee.
    • Create and publish the weekly schedule for all members of the Bakery team based on Sweet Bloom’s scheduling standards..
    • Review and edit the Bakery Team’s time cards bi-weekly.
    • Complete regular check ins with the members of the Bakery Team following Sweet Bloom Coffee Roaster’s vision and procedure for monthly check ins.
    • Ensure all members of the Bakery Team’s required paperwork and certifications are up to date.
    • Create your own schedule that allows you to work alongside the Bakery Team, develop and test new pastry offerings, complete administrative and managerial tasks, and cover bakery shifts and deliveries as needed.
    • Create the Bakery Prep Schedule and Checklist before the start of each week.
    • Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for cleanliness, safety and sanitation, efficiency, team member development, accurate inventory and optimal department efficiency.
    • Work alongside Cafe Managers to troubleshoot any issues that arise regarding pastries, ordering, deliveries, or guest complaints.
    • Work alongside Cafe Managers to schedule bakery trainings for new Baristas to familiarize them with Sweet Bloom’s
    • Pastry offerings and pastry serving procedures.
    • Test and develop new pastry offerings, keeping seasonality, creativity, and demand in mind.
    • Manage the inventory of Bakery ingredients, equipment, and other supplies and place regular orders with Shamrock, Costco, and Italco.
    • Manage the in-house pastry delivery schedule and processes ensuring pastries are delivered to each cafe each morning.
    • Complete regular expense reports and quarterly sales reports
    • Provide accurate monthly pastry numbers and all purchase receipts to Accounting.
    • Work to produce minimal food waste in all locations.

    Qualifications

    • Previous Bakery Management Experience Required
    • Pass & maintain Colorado Food Handlers license
    • Basic math skills and the ability to read a ruler
    • Understanding of basic nutrition and baking components
    • General understand of kitchen appliances and equipment
    • Passion and excitement for Sweet Bloom Coffee Roasters mission, and vision, and the craft coffee industry as a whole
    • Must have integrity and act with kindness and respect
