Gahahe

Our final wash processed offering from Burundi for 2024!

This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.

We taste

pink lady, plum, pomelo

...in this coffee.

As we wrap up the offerings from Burundi for the year we are delighted to offer this tasty washed lot from the Gahahe washing station. Around 900 small plot producers bring their harvest to the station and we are duly impressed with the quality of processing.

Careful processing, nose-bleed elevation and the highly sought after red bourbon variety all lead to amazing results with this lot. Just off the grind the aromatics are floral and sweet. In the cup we are finding  lovely notes of pink lady with a deeper fruit note of plum and pomelo. This Gahahe is complex, sweet, bright, juicy, and balanced. Definitely grab a bag before we turn our attention to other East African countries like Ethiopia and Kenya!

We buy, roast, and sell coffee. On a surface level, this sounds simple enough. But buying coffee in a way we are proud of and in a way that those who buy our coffee are proud of is often complex, challenging, and hard work. We find ourselves on a continuum of buying and selling that progresses towards more sustainable, meaningful and equitable relationships. The chart below provides basic information for each lot on where we are on this journey.
