Gure Kesso

This lot from western Ethiopia is stellar!

This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.

We taste

lemon curd, peach, honey

...in this coffee.

As coffee from Ethiopia continues to trickle in at a snail’s pace, we are delighted to be able to offer this stellar lot from the Jimma region – Western Ethiopia! This specific lot is from producers who live in the Gure Kesso kebele (ward) and bring their ripe harvest to the Telila washing station.

We are super impressed with the intensely sweet and floral aromatics just after grinding this coffee! The florals, like jasmine, transfer into the cup as well and are joined by notes of lemon curd and peach, with a lovely honeyed sweetness that makes this coffee very complete and very delicious. If this lot is a reflection of the quality coming out of Ethiopia this year, we are in for a very tasty season. Enjoy!

We buy, roast, and sell coffee. On a surface level, this sounds simple enough. But buying coffee in a way we are proud of and in a way that those who buy our coffee are proud of is often complex, challenging, and hard work. We find ourselves on a continuum of buying and selling that progresses towards more sustainable, meaningful and equitable relationships. The chart below provides basic information for each lot on where we are on this journey.
