Johnny Alvarado
A sweet gem from Johnny!
We taste
star fruit, nougat, caramel
...in this coffee.
Coffees from Central America are just starting to trickle in and one of our first arrivals is from our friend Johnny Alvarado. Johnny, his family members and team, have worked hard over the years to improve all aspects of their coffee growing and production. This has included building both their own wet-mill and dry mill. Their hard work and attention to detail continues to pay off! As with previous years, we’ve chosen a lovely washed lot to showcase and it is delish.
This year’s lot is full of brown sugar and caramel aromatics fresh off the grind. Caramel sweetness carries over into the cup as well and is joined by notes of star fruit, white grape, peach and nougat. If you are a big fan of clean, sweet and balanced coffees, this gem from Johnny should be a go to through the rest of summer and early fall!
Transparency Information
We buy, roast, and sell coffee. On a surface level, this sounds simple enough. But buying coffee in a way we are proud of and in a way that those who buy our coffee are proud of is often complex, challenging, and hard work. We find ourselves on a continuum of buying and selling that progresses towards more sustainable, meaningful and equitable relationships. The chart below provides basic information for each lot on where we are on this journey.
