Jorge Rojas

Our first offering of the Chiroso variety!

This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.

We taste

pineapple, mango, red zin

...in this coffee.

This is the first time we’ve offered a lot from producer Jorge Rojas. It is also the first time we’ve been privileged enough to offer a selection from the chiroso variety – recently discovered in Antioquia, Colombia. Like geshas, this variety has genetic roots directly tied to the heirloom varieties of Ethiopia.

The variety itself, is inherently floral and fruit forward. With this specific lot, Jorge aimed to accentuate the fruit by natural processing, but with a light touch to avoid the heavier dark fruit notes that come with extended fermentation. The results are remarkable, with lovely tropical fruit notes like ripe pineapple and mango predominating against a background of red wine. If you love our more fruit forward offerings, this one will blow your mind!

We buy, roast, and sell coffee. On a surface level, this sounds simple enough. But buying coffee in a way we are proud of and in a way that those who buy our coffee are proud of is often complex, challenging, and hard work. We find ourselves on a continuum of buying and selling that progresses towards more sustainable, meaningful and equitable relationships. The chart below provides basic information for each lot on where we are on this journey.
