Kanzu
a lovely sweet apple note and a deep honeyed sweetness
We taste
hibiscus, pink lady, dark honey
...in this coffee.
We’ve been purchasing lots from the Kanzu washing station for six years now and are delighted to share this new crop arrival with you!
Small plot growers surrounding the Kanzu washing station bring their ripe bourbon fruit to the station to be de-pulped and washed. Careful attention to detail with every step in the process has led to consistently fantastic lots year after year, and 2023’s lot is no exception! We are finding a delightful floral note in the aromatics and cup, reminiscent of hibiscus. Add to that a lovely sweet apple note and a deep honeyed sweetness and you are in for a juicy, sweet, balanced cup of delish.

We buy, roast, and sell coffee. On a surface level, this sounds simple enough. But buying coffee in a way we are proud of and in a way that those who buy our coffee are proud of is often complex, challenging, and hard work. We find ourselves on a continuum of buying and selling that progresses towards more sustainable, meaningful and equitable relationships. The chart below provides basic information for each lot on where we are on this journey.
