Beautiful coffee grown in the beautiful Triunfo Biosphere Reserve!

We taste

mandarin, brownie, brown sugar

...in this coffee.

We’ve been sourcing lots from the Las Cotorras group for four years now and this year’s lot just might be the tastiest yet! Named after the beautiful parrots that grace the surrounding hillsides, Las Cotorras is a group of about 300 small-scale producers who grow their coffee within the Triunfo Biosphere Reserve. This reserve is wonderfully biodiverse and represents one of the last cloud forests to exist in Central America.

It’s fitting that from such a beautiful landscape, also comes beautiful coffee. This year’s lot is full of sweet chocolate aromatics fresh off the grind. The chocolate tones can be found in the cup as well and are joined by brown sugar and a lovely mandarin acidity. Las Cotorras kicks off our season of offerings from Mexico with a bang and will have you thinking about the second cup before the first is finished.

We buy, roast, and sell coffee. On a surface level, this sounds simple enough. But buying coffee in a way we are proud of and in a way that those who buy our coffee are proud of is often complex, challenging, and hard work. We find ourselves on a continuum of buying and selling that progresses towards more sustainable, meaningful and equitable relationships. The chart below provides basic information for each lot on where we are on this journey.
