Marcio Borges Castro Alves

Our first coffee from Brazil in a quite a few years!

This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.

We taste

milk chocolate, macadamia, raisin

...in this coffee.

Its been a minute since we’ve offered a coffee from Brazil, but this gem from Marcio ticked all the boxes for us. Marcio’s family has been growing coffee since 1950 and fought back after the freeze that destroyed all of their trees in 1975. Now Marcio continues his family’s commitment to excellence and we are happy to share the result of decades of hard work with you!

Fresh off the grind you will find milk chocolate and caramel, both of which carry over into the cup as well and are joined by buttery macadamia nut, and a darker dried fruit note like raisin. If you love chocolatey full bodied coffees with softer acidity, then this impressive lot from Brazil will make you happy.

We buy, roast, and sell coffee. On a surface level, this sounds simple enough. But buying coffee in a way we are proud of and in a way that those who buy our coffee are proud of is often complex, challenging, and hard work. We find ourselves on a continuum of buying and selling that progresses towards more sustainable, meaningful and equitable relationships. The chart below provides basic information for each lot on where we are on this journey.
