Migration 8.2

From $22.00

Migration is killer for cold brew, but should definitely be tried for drip and espresso as well!

We taste

mango, raspberry, cantaloupe

...in this coffee.

We can’t think of a better way to finish the Migration 8 season, than making version 8.2 a 50/50 blend of Buku Sayisa and Gidey Hagos. These two coffees, washed and natural respectively, were sourced by our importing friend and former Sweet Bloom employee, Yoni Girmai. Yoni recently started Emba Importers and we partnered with him to help bring in his first full container.

Both of these coffees are special in their own way. Buku Sayisa just happened to win the Africa’s Fine Coffee Assoication’s (AFCA) Taste of Harvest competition’s top spot this year for washed entries. Gidey Hagos, a stellar natural lot from Guji. is endearingly named after Yoni’s mom.  There is much to love about these two coffees, including how well they work together as a blend!

Fresh off the grind the aromatics are intensely floral and tropical. The peach and white grape from Buku, transforms into mango in the blend – and the blackberry from Gidey leans more towards raspberry. We are also finding a wonderful melon like flavor reminiscent of cantaloupe. Seriously delish! If you’ve been loving this year’s versions of Migration, we expect this last version for 2025 will be your favorite. Definitely use this blend for cold brew, but you will not be disappointed with 8.2 as drip or pulling sweet, floral, berry and tropical fruit shots.

We buy, roast, and sell coffee. On a surface level, this sounds simple enough. But buying coffee in a way we are proud of and in a way that those who buy our coffee are proud of is often complex, challenging, and hard work. We find ourselves on a continuum of buying and selling that progresses towards more sustainable, meaningful and equitable relationships. The chart below provides basic information for each lot on where we are on this journey.
