We taste

plum, blood orange, black tea

...in this coffee.

We are happy to offer our first coffee from Burundi for the year from the Nemba washing station. This station is located in the Kayanza province, a stone’s throw away from the Rwandan border.  Most of the producers have farms that rise above Nemba and top out at 2000 m. This altitude combined with careful harvesting, processing, and the wonderful bourbon variety, all lead to a super sweet and complex cup.

Fresh off the grind we are smelling ripe dark fruit notes like plum.  Plum carries over into the cup as well and is joined by a blood orange acidity and a lovely black tea finish. Give this coffee a minute or two to open up, the flavors really pop at slightly cooler temps. Enjoy!

We buy, roast, and sell coffee. On a surface level, this sounds simple enough. But buying coffee in a way we are proud of and in a way that those who buy our coffee are proud of is often complex, challenging, and hard work. We find ourselves on a continuum of buying and selling that progresses towards more sustainable, meaningful and equitable relationships. The chart below provides basic information for each lot on where we are on this journey.
