We taste

soft floral, pomelo, assam

...in this coffee.

We are delighted to offer you this gem from the Gakenke District of Rwanda. The name Rambagikawa means, ‘Professional women owning and growing coffee trees’. The group itself is made up of 70 women who supply their coffee to the Dukunde Kawa co-op. In the off season, you can find the women busily weaving traditional baskets for sale. Not only is this group of women doing great things within their community, they are producing some top notch coffee as well!

Fresh off the grind the aromatics are sweet, with hints of floral and citrus. In the cup, a lovely ripe pomelo note predominates and finishes with a crisp assam tea like finish. Clean, crisp, sweet and balanced – everything you look for in excellent coffee from Rwanda!

We buy, roast, and sell coffee. On a surface level, this sounds simple enough. But buying coffee in a way we are proud of and in a way that those who buy our coffee are proud of is often complex, challenging, and hard work. We find ourselves on a continuum of buying and selling that progresses towards more sustainable, meaningful and equitable relationships. The chart below provides basic information for each lot on where we are on this journey.
