Tebe Melge

Our first natural from Ethiopia for the 2024!

We taste

raspberry, cherry, lime zest

...in this coffee.

No doubt, naturally processed coffees from Ethiopia remain some of the best in the world, and we are stoked to be able to offer our first of 2024! Tebe Melge is a small washing station in the highlands of Guji. The high elevation leads to cool nights which leads to slow fruit maturation which leads to big sweetness and complex flavors. This is our kind of natural, more fruit forward than a wash processed coffee, but without heavy fruit ferment flavors.

Fresh off the grind, we are smelling berries and sweet floral notes. In the cup, you’ll find a variety of fruit flavors, from ripe raspberry, to cherry, to a refreshing lime zest acidity. A killer start to a delicious lineup of naturals from Ethiopia for the year!

We buy, roast, and sell coffee. On a surface level, this sounds simple enough. But buying coffee in a way we are proud of and in a way that those who buy our coffee are proud of is often complex, challenging, and hard work. We find ourselves on a continuum of buying and selling that progresses towards more sustainable, meaningful and equitable relationships. The chart below provides basic information for each lot on where we are on this journey.
