Mario Alarcon

Our fifth year offering a gesha lot from our friend Mario Alarcon!

This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.

We taste

hubba bubba, watermelon, red grape

...in this coffee.

We were first introduced to Mario Alarcon back in 2018 by our friends at Huckleberry Roasters. Every year since, we’ve had the honor of sharing with you Mario’s gesha lot from his beautiful farm Monte de Oro. We’ve loved getting to know Mario (and his business partner Christian Valdez) over the years, and are stoked with the quality of this year’s lot!

Fresh off the grind the aromatics have a bubble gum vibe and hint toward a lot of tasty fruit flavors to be found in the cup as well. We are tasting everything from watermelon to red grape, with a  rich milk chocolate mid-tone. The gesha variety provides a departure from what we expect from a more typical profile from Guatemala and we think you will be duly impressed with the complexity and intensity of flavors of this gem. Hats off to Mario and his team!

We buy, roast, and sell coffee. On a surface level, this sounds simple enough. But buying coffee in a way we are proud of and in a way that those who buy our coffee are proud of is often complex, challenging, and hard work. We find ourselves on a continuum of buying and selling that progresses towards more sustainable, meaningful and equitable relationships. The chart below provides basic information for each lot on where we are on this journey.
