We taste

honey, mango, white grape

...in this coffee.

Ever since 2018, we’ve been buying coffee from Truth Trading Company, an exporter out of Guatemala. Mario Alarcon, one of the founders of TTC, also owns a farm in Acatenango, called Monte de Oro, and we’ve been purchasing special lots from Mario from the start.  Volcanos Acatenango and Fuego rise imposingly above the farm and even with thick cloud cover Fuego will remind you of its presence with low grumblings and rattling windows. There is something special about this farm and Mario’s coffee and we are honored again to offer his coffee to you.

After grinding, you will find sweet floral and honey aromatics. In the cup, a lively white grape acidity mingles around notes of mango and honey. Though naturally processed, the fruit notes are delicate and could pass for washed processed.  If you like wonderfully balanced, lightly nuanced and pleasantly sweet coffees, definitely give this one a try!

We buy, roast, and sell coffee. On a surface level, this sounds simple enough. But buying coffee in a way we are proud of and in a way that those who buy our coffee are proud of is often complex, challenging, and hard work. We find ourselves on a continuum of buying and selling that progresses towards more sustainable, meaningful and equitable relationships. The chart below provides basic information for each lot on where we are on this journey.
