Huila, Colombia
Nery Montilla
Our first but not last lot from female producer Nery Montilla!
We taste
brownie, white grape, mandarin
...in this coffee.
Nery’s story with coffee is nothing short of amazing and we are so grateful for the opportunity of sharing her special coffee with you. Nery was born into coffee with her father owning a farm in Nariño. But at the age of 20 she started her own journey by moving to Huila and becoming a coffee picker. Eventually she saved enough money to purchase her own farm and over the years has transformed her coffee from ready to blend quality (RTB/A) to a level that easily surpasses our quality threshold. You can read more about her amazing journey below.
Just after grinding, the aromatics are wonderfully sweet like brownies fresh out of the oven. In the cup we are finding lively malic and citric notes of white grape and mandarin all wrapped in a sugarcane sweetness. This is traditionally washed processed coffee at its best and no doubt we’ll be buying more of her coffee in the future. In fact, the next lot is already moving our way. But don’t miss out on this first ever lot – you will be impressed!

Transparency Information
We buy, roast, and sell coffee. On a surface level, this sounds simple enough. But buying coffee in a way we are proud of and in a way that those who buy our coffee are proud of is often complex, challenging, and hard work. We find ourselves on a continuum of buying and selling that progresses towards more sustainable, meaningful and equitable relationships. The chart below provides basic information for each lot on where we are on this journey.
